Born in 1911, Maryam Şahinyan (Մարիամ Շահինեան) was a photographer and considered to be the first female studio photographer in Turkey. Şahinyan focused on portraits, which included queer subjects and folx from disenfranchised religious and ethnic groups.
You can view a few of her photographs below and read more about Şahinyan and her work at Massis Post and at Onedio. In 2015, the New York Times also published a brief biography with a small 14 photo gallery.
